Andrea Stolowitz is a playwright working in traditional and experimental theater and opera.  Andrea’s work embraces bold theatricality ranging from intimate portrayals of the human condition to the intersection of national history on private lives. Andrea is a member of New Dramatists class of 2026, The Lacroute Playwright in Residence at The Oregon Jewish Museum Center for Holocaust Education, and the artistic director of Andrea Stolowitz Theatre Projects, the producing arm of her creative work. Andrea splits her time between Cork, Ireland; Berlin, Germany; New York; and Portland, OR.  Andrea is also very, very funny.

RECENT and UPCOMING

The Berlin Diaries was a recipient of the City of New York Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment  Women’s Film, TV and Theatre Fund. The play was produced in 2023 at 59E59 by The Pool Plays in association with The New Group. It was then produced as a 2024-25  NNPN Rolling World Premiere. It was additionally produced in 2025 at TheatreJ in Washington, DC and in Chicago. The audio drama (with ASL and slides) created by Artists Repertory Theatre’s Mercury Company (dir: Dámaso Rodriguez) is available here. The play will be available for world-wide licensing in 2026 from Concord.

Andrea’s newest work, Numbered Be Our Days (dir: Dónal Gallagher), a verbatim play about the Irish-Jewish community, was presented as a work-in-progress at the 2025 Cork Midsummer Festival, supported by the Irish Arts Council, The Abbey Theatre Literary and New Work department, Fishamble’s New Play Clinic, and the Cork Theatre Collective.
Additional developing work includes: a commission from the Lucille Lortel’s Alcove Project about the decade from 1979-1989 when we almost stopped climate change, an interview-based project about Bigfoot which is really about the urban-rural divide, and a play with music called Earthnauts into the Future about the last two members of an intentional community.
